MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Southeast Raleigh Community Development Corporation is to promote community and economic development initiatives, preserve, revitalize and recognize our historic communities and to build an environment in Southeast Raleigh whereby families can live, work and play in safety and stability.

The CDC has become a vital organization in catalyzing the revitalization of African American neighborhoods and developing affordable housing.

In partnership with the City of Raleigh Community Development Department, the CDC has garnered several accomplishments in housing and community development.

The Cooke Street Project is one accomplishment that demonstrates multiple organizations collaborative efforts in revitalizing the Idlewild Community, a once deteriorating African American neighborhood that is adjacent to Saint Augustine’s University.  Because of the Cooke Street Project success, the City of Raleigh continues to partner with the CDC on development projects such as Idlewild Avenue and Heck Street.

In 2017 the CDC was selected by the City of Raleigh as one of the builders for the East College Park Redevelopment Project.  With this project, the CDC will continue to strive for the goal of creating affordable housing and developing diverse communities.
